Maltese Dog Training

Welcome to Maltesetraining.net. I’ve set this Maltese Dog Training site to help Maltese owners to help train Maltese behaviour problems. Sweet as they can be, if Maltese are not properly trained, just like any dogs, they could be a nuisance to the public and even endanger themselves.

Maltese Training

Little background for Maltese owners of the dog's origin.  Also, cited to as the "Ye ancient dogge of Malta," Maltese dogs derive their name from the city where they were found for the first time. These dogs have owned the repute of being the most privileged dogs for nearly 28 centuries and are therefore dearly possessed mainly by members of the royalties worldwide.

You can estimate the expensiveness of Maltese dogs with the fact that they were sold for $2,000 even in the 16th century. Training a Maltese dog is important, as the untrained ones would not be anything more than an annoying and coltish pet. Therefore, after you have this dog, the next step you should probably be looking forward to is Maltese training.

Usually, the owners of Maltese dogs find themselves lucky as this dog responds in a favourable and prompt manner to the training instructions.  The only thing that is supposed to be taken care of is consistency of the training procedure.

What is so special about Maltese dogs?

Maltese training is a little different in many aspects from the training given to the other dogs. Maltese  are basically calm by nature and don’t prefer exercising or going for a lope.

Maltese dogs like socializing with both humans and dogs of other breeds and therefore require companionship on a regular basis. Companionship is the most essential aspect of Maltese training and the ignorance of this aspect may give way to an anxious nature in these dogs.

Last but surely not the least; make sure that you are easygoing with them. Though Maltese dogs are cheerful, they can act stubborn too when you plan to take them for an exercise walk around the block.

Fundamentals of Maltese Training

While your Maltese puppy is undergoing the training, make sure that he is comforted by his mother until he has reached the age of eight weeks. With a dog that is cute and calm, as an owner you should make sure that you render all the benefits that your pet requires. For instance, you should make sure that you spend maximum time with your puppy and help him socialize with the other dogs until he has reached the age of 3 months.

Maltese Training for Obedience

Maltese dogs can be comfortably trained for obedience. The training should start as early as 10-14 weeks of the puppy’s age. As Malteses are basically calm and idle by nature, you can’t expect them to perform a lot of tricks during the training period. Though the updated techniques involved in Maltese training are really effective, they do require some amount of patience and effort from your end.
